The tale of two refrigerators....

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. It is the mess I call "home" and the mess I am living with! This is what I came home to after the frivolity and chaos of the Close To My Heart annual Convention in Washington D.C. Sleep deprived and spent. I just wanted to come home and relax. Don't you agree?

Here's the sad story. A new fridge. Not really "new" just "new" to me. A simple hook up for water and a broken pipe that flooded my house. Then comes the clean up. Dry wall, mold, wood floors, tile floors, kitchen cabinets and counter tops. We just wanted the ice maker to work. Oy.

I did not plan to spend my summer doing a remodel of any sort. I planned on organizing my studio so that I could find my stuff. Now I can't even find my "bill" pile!! I have two refrigerators in the middle of my family room and I'm tripping over my suitcases that need to be unpacked.

And there you go. Life!! It's always something!! (I'm thinking this will be an awesome layout!)

Wish me luck and loads of patience. I'll keep posting as I sort through and clean up.

this adorable little mini-album. This was our latest project at my "Preferred Customer" workshop. (Second Tuesday, every month! FREE for my Preferred Customers!)

It's pretty simple to make. I used the fabulous "Passages" level 2 paper pack and out beautiful designer brads (pewter). I used some cold coffee to tea dye my white flowers from the white daisy variety pack.

I included 3 "flip flaps" in the book which are much stronger than a clear envelope for holding your photo's. It's perfect for 3-6 photos with just a little journaling. (4 x6 size)

You could make it for a new baby or for a fun weekend with your girlfriends or just a sweet little all occasion gifty. I got the dimensions and idea from Split Coast Stampers, and my awesome up line Cindy Baker. She made these at our team meeting and posted the photo. The design was perfect so I promptly "stamp lifted" it! Lucky me.

It's quick and easy. The perfect blend to start your summer fun with creativity.

Have fun making memories with this little book. I know I will!

This little flower card pattern has been floating around for years. I first saw it on Lisa's blog and was smitten. I copied her pattern to start with but then adjusted it ever so slightly. My version is more of a standard card size.

I used our awesome "A" size stamp set named appropriately "A Posy". You get a set of 5 stamps for only $7.95. WowZa! Better than a latte from Starbucks! Don't you agree??

Flowers, flowers, flowers!

They are quite the "in" thing this spring.

Here's my version of the flower that Jeannette posted in April! I used Pansy Purple for the flower and Sweet Leaf for my leaves. I cut a circle with my fancy scissors called "cloud". Kind of a big scallop. Remember them?? I love them. Use them all the time!

I cut leaves from a piece of Sweet Leaf after I put it through my crimper! Another blast from the past! I sponged and wrinkled and made them leafy looking!

It's not a card you mail. Too bulky. It's a card you give to the person you love and made it for. And when they "ohh" and "ahhh" you beam. Cuz it's a card you made from your Heart!

How do you share your business and passion with others?? Home gatherings and workshops for sure. But, what if you want to amp up your recruiting and sales?? Where do you meet new people. People that have never even heard about Close To My Heart?? (If you can imagine that!?) Have you ever gone to a "networking" event. Well, let me tell you I have!

I've paid top dollar to lots of different venues thinking "this is it!" I'll meet lots of new potential customers! Alas, I've not had a lot of success. I've collected oodles of business cards and spoken briefly to others about Close To My Heart but I never really connected with anyone. I added their information to my "contact list" but I rarely heard from any one.

This year I've changed things up. I've been hosting a Heart Link Network gathering at my home. It's once a month. It's a lunch time event. I'm the Hostess. It costs $20 to attend. We have a yummy lunch and we all get to showcase our business for 3 minutes! That's a lot of time when you usually only get 30 seconds to share whats in your heart! Everyone is warm and friendly and genuine. I've made some wonderful new friends.

Spring Fling Mini Project!

I love a cute little artsy note pad in my purse! Don't you? It's a great way to share what I do when I pull it out and write in it!
I had one that I loved (to pieces). It was a gift to me for teaching a few years ago at a stamp camp and after a couple of years of "lovin", it was ready to be retired.

I looked around on the web for directions and stumbled across a video on "how to" cover these little mini note books! Much easier than you think!

Fun for me, fun for you! This was the project that my crop attendees made last Friday night! Now, these little memo books are my favorite gifty to make and to give away!

Here we are at my "Spring Fling" Crop!! I had over 30 gals come and create the last Friday of April! It was the perfect time to mix and mingle and make fun stuff!

I combined my "team" meeting with my fun customers for an evening of yummy food, creative projects and that ever important "Display Board" for the NEW SUMMER IDEA BOOK!

I was busy, busy but I have great friends and helpers! Thanks Tara, Zada, and Eileen!

My oldest daughter (Tara) who reads my mind when I entertain.

My stamping and creative friend Zada. Always "spot on" in designing projects.

And my dear, dear first downline and so much more than a friend, Eileen.

She was "me" teaching the consultants the "how to's" of all the cards on the display board. (I can be sorta picky!!) Everyone needs a friend that will jump in and do a "make and take" at the last minute!!

Tweet. Can you hear the sounds of spring?? Are you enjoying the birds singing and the flowers blooming? I am!! I love this weather and the sun shiny days. (Yes, we have "springtime" in Arizona!) Not for very long, but I really enjoy the warm days and cool nights! Then comes HOT days and HOT nights. Sigh.

Nonetheless, this cute springy card was made with the level 2 Top Stitch (X7120B) paper pack and the Love You Forever stamp set (C1398) and a fun border punch.

It's sweet and easy and perfect for birthdays, babies and thinking of you cards. The tag is from CM and I use it a lot! Quick! Before the weather gets too HOT you should make some sweet spring cards! Send me one and I'll post it here for everyone to enjoy.

I love a great technique! Something that uses the stamp set you already own in a completely different way. Tune in to the latest *Art and Soul* and then get out those re-inkers and have blast in your "puddle".

Easter Birthday!

Grandpa Jeff turned 57 on Easter Sunday! And Noah came over to say Happy Birthday Pops! We had all 5 of our kids (and their plus 1's) over for a traditional *Pizza Sunday* with cake and ice cream to top off the day!

A family celebration and a visit from Noah...what could be better??

My Love, My Weekend

Just the facts. Went to Cancun with Margi and Greg. Had a WONDERFUL time. Sun, sun and more sun. Plus lots of guacamole.

Came home, felt icky for a few days...to be expected when you over indulge. Right? Feeling better until the middle of Thursday night.

Ambulance, paramedics, emergency room. My love, my Jeff suffered a T.I.A. (mini stroke). Scary stuff. But, all is well. He is home and feeling great. He had every test you can have. Watched lots of old TV shows and talked to a few Docs. The nurses and staff and Banner Baywood were awesome.

Thanks for taking fabulous care of him. Thanks for sending my love, my Jeff home.

Easter Basket Fun

It's that time of year when I spend way too much time making cute things.
Cute *little* things, like this basket full of yummy candy. This basic pattern has a million and one ways to change it up. Or leave it plain and simple.

I used a 6 x 6 square and scored the sides at 1 1/2. That leaves the basket width at 3" with the sides at 1 1/2. A sturdy little box. The handle is 12'' by 1 1/4. Glue the ends inside the basket or like mine on the outside for added interest. Decorate with Background stamps your flower punches and enjoy!

I used the bright summer palette of Sunny Yellow, Hydrangea, Watermelon, and Citrus Leaf.
This cute little project showcases just a few of the 60 great colors that Close To My Heart has to choose from.

If you're like me, you can never have too much paper! Don't you agree??

Did you know that Close To My Heart sells a great little notebook?
My Creations Journal Z1268.

You can decorate the front to match any of your gift giving ideas. I'm thinking wedding journal, baby info OR you might want to use it as you participate in the A.M.P. program. It's nice to have a special place to jot down ideas and thoughts. I love a fancy little book in my purse. You never know when you'll have a profound thought or see something you want to remember.

Look what else I found in my stash! It looks like a checkbook, but it's a little pocket calendar! I took it out of it's plastic cover, decorated the front and back with Veranda paper and Viola! CUTE! Everyone thinks it's a checkbook...but who writes checks nowadays?? Not me!

And look at those paper flowers! I used Creme Brulee reinker and dyed them to match! Added a little Close To My Heart home made "glimmer mist" (equal parts pearl paint and rubbing alcohol) and they are gorgeous! I did the same with the Sorbet re-inker on my Easter card. OKEY DOKEY !! The finish project!

I had an IDEA!

Isn't that always the beginning of every good mess! I saw Lisa's cute little criss cross box. But, I wanted to make it bigger! Who knows why?!

So I started with Vanilla Creme card stock. Cut and measured, cut and scored, cut and folded. Started over about 9 times! It took most of the day to figure out the basic measurements.
BUT, I kept at it and TA DAH! It finally worked out.

Your handcrafted cards in a beautiful box. That's worth a mess. Don't you think?

Creative University Here I Come!

I am so excited to participate in Tresa Black's *Creative University* this year!! I'll be heading off to Idaho this week for some fun, friends and creativity! I have my long undies all ready to go and some boots to wear for the cold wet mud up thar' in the mountains. Remember, it's in the 70's here in beautiful Arizona right now, so I'm bracing for a drop in temperature!!

This is my *project* that I'll be teaching to the group. My new grand baby Noah is so much fun. I love his baby toes! However, this home decor item would be just as gorgeous with a photo of your family or your friends. I used a 9 x 9 memory album and cut the front and back off. That creates 2 bases for the home decor project. Cover in paper, decorate and TA DAH!

And let me give credit where credit is DUE!! I have the most amazing friend and downline, Eileen Windsor. She and her fabulously talented daughter Alane actually came up with this idea and they were gracious enough to let me share it! I really don't think this stuff up!

I'll be posting from Idaho so you can check in and see the other extremely cool projects that I get to create!! I can't wait!

Happy Valentine's Day to YOU!

I love this stamp set, Grown With Love D1372. Don't you? Even though this card is not a typical Valentine's Day design I love the bright Clover Meadow juxtaposed with the Baby Pink foundation. So yummy.

Sherman thought there might be some candy inside and he was sad to find nothing but a pretty card. Bummer.

I'll get him a special chewy bone for Happy Hearts Day. We do love our puppies.

Some "birdy" does love you!

Veranda is soft and pretty and you might think a totally a feminine paper pack. It's so much more than that! Add some "cocoa" or "black" cardstock and it takes on a whole new look. I'm creating a "shadow box" for Noah where I added black cardstock as my accent. So yummy!!

Thanks to my good friend Margi who taught me how to "pleat" my paper. I love how this card turned out. It's so "Tweet"!

I love how these card samples always seem to come together. I'll be posting each card separately during the week so that you can get a closer look. Plus the bonus! I got a fabulous treat in the mail today from my sweet, sweet, sweet up-upline Sheri Rottler. She sent me her 5 card designs that her team created for their samples up there in Utah. I shared the display board idea with her at our annual *SweetHearts Retreat* last spring and I'm thrilled to get additional designs to share with you as well! Lucky me!!

New Cards

I LOVE being a Close To My Heart consultant! I love the friends I've made over the years. I love the opportunity we have to get together every time a NEW idea book is released. (Every four months in case you were wondering!)

Here in beautiful Arizona we all get together and CREATE. We eat and visit and chatter and best of all we get to bring our cute family members. Let me introduce you to Shelby! She is the cutey pie daughter of Patti Arrington. She was a good helper to her Mom and a delight to get to know better. She is showing off our 5 new card designs to share with our customers! She's a great little model dont'cha think? Thanks kiddo!

I call this get together "Display Board Night" and it's fun to hang out with each other and make this great marketing tool to help us grow our business's. You can set it up at work in the break room with some order forms and Close To My Heart information OR take it to vendor fairs or networking groups. I'll be posting the completed board and photos of each card this week.

I know-it's way past Christmas

But, I love this card and I wanted to share! Basic card stock and buttons. How simple is that? How easy? How delightful? Christmas is my favorite time of year and I usually "create" a lot more projects than I finish! Good thing Christmas is a recurring holiday! Like birthdays, and Valentines Day! Which I enjoy as well. So I'll save this card until next year and I'll be all ready on December 1st to send out my classy cards! It's a win-win.

On a side note, be sure to register for Convention ASAP. I registered under "Sweet Leaf" and I hope to see you there having fun with the *HeartsDelight* team!!

I know. They have not one thing in common! I just LOVE this photo of Jeff with Noah. I think he thought Noah was gonna "urp". He didn't BTW. Just a little dribble of spit.

Back to Convention!! Can't wait. We love D.C. so we"ll be there on the 3rd of July! Jeff and I actually "Honeymooned" there 9 (that's right- NINE!) years ago this June!

So if you're going, and WHY? wouldn't YOU...register under "Sweet Leaf" and we can all hang out together. I have a feeling this will be a "banner" year. I swear they always have something major to announce. I would never miss this event. I hate hearing news second hand or being the last to know!

I love it! I say that every time and every time I really mean it!! Don't cha just LOVE looking at all the new papers and goodies. I do! In fact I'm gonna copy this gorgeous cover for a wedding gift!
I'll put the page in a "shadow box" and everyone will think I'm so "creative"!! Why re-invent the wheel?? I love to copy!

Then, I'll make a new "shadow box" with the same layout. Different paper pack for my new grand baby Noah. I have a darling photo that I'm dying to use!! Oh, this granny thing is so cool.

Noah Timothy Heddin has arrived! Jeff's oldest daughter Jessica is the new mommy. Jonathan Heddin the new daddy. Jeff and I are grandparents! How great is that?? He's a doll, weighing in at 9lbs. 10oz.

You'll be seeing lots more pics of this adorable little guy. Can't wait to scrapbook all those amazing moments we call "baby" OOhhh so excited!!

OH MY!!! A beautiful Christmas gift from Close To My Heart!

I LOVE being a Close To My Heart consultant!! This year all the Directors in the company -and there are lots!- got this cool flash drive. It's shiny and sparkly and a gorgeous heart shape (which you know I love)! and so nice to have for all my computer stuff. Wow-it's perfect!

Sherman! What a FUNNY dog I have. Well, he was Jeff's dog before he became part of our family. I get such a kick out of Sherman and I'm sure that you all wondered what this funny dog looked like. So now when I speak of "Shermy" you'll be able to remember this FACE . If you come to visit he'll bark and bark but he's really just trying to get close enough to lick! ICK

If you were one of my TOP sellers for the month of September you received this cute / darling card as your "wooHOO." I used the always fabulous Twitterpatted (X7118B) paper pack and the new stamp set called Many Thanks (D1371). I colored the bulk button (bulk146) with my sweet leaf marker and ta-dah! I had a colored button that matched my card. I popped the acorn with 3-d tape, added ribbon and some floss and it all came together. The beauty and ease of Close To My Heart is one thing I can always count on. You too??

I love to make cute Halloween treats! Here's what my "stamp girls" made on Tuesday night. We didn't have any candy bars to put inside so you'll have to use your imagination. I like a Twix bar because the ends pop out and add to the overall cuteness of the treat.

Here's the dimensions and directions. Cut your paper 6" by 2 and 3/4. Score at 2", 3",and 5". If you want to use a circle punch for your stamped design just make sure the biggest one is no larger than 1 and 1/2". (I love basic punches). My stamped image (those darling monster heads) are on a 1' circle punch. I used stazon black ink and then colored with my blender pens.
The ribbon is 6" long and I attached them on the fold with glue dots and scotch tape.

Too FUN! and CUTE. You should make one with some fall leaves or a pumpkin for a great Thanksgiving treat. Use up all your leftover candy!

What's not to love?? I adore the merry monster stamp set (B1333). Although my merry monsters have all left home!! Hhaha. Just kidding! Be sure to order at least one FUN stamp set for every holiday or happening! It's the best way to build your stash and to stay active as a consultant! I love having FUN stamp sets in my inventory for all the events that occur at least once every year! I'm pretty sure I can think of many FUN ways to use this set!

This is one great idea! It's a "magnetic scrapbook page" from my secret
sistah at the Director's Retreat. (The very talented Kemille Garvin).
She used a square piece of galvanized steel and put it in a stand alone frame.

First, she created a fabulous single page layout that you can attach photos to with those groovy glass magnets. You can leave the glass in the frame or take it out. It work and looks great both ways.

The "magnets" are those glass pebbles that she attached paper behind and then added a magnet to. This is a fun "home decor" item for gifts and workshops!

Yes, that's me visiting the famous "Ball of Twine". I stayed in Minnesota after the Regional Celebration and created with my stamping bud Margi Gilbertson. She was nice enough to let me visit this iconic landmark. I got to eat fresh raspberries from her garden and make some hilarious and spooky Halloween cards. Too much FUN!

I made this Birthday Book for my friend Bren.
She was my secret sistah at the Director Retreat!
Talk about pressure! She's so creative that I was in a
panic on what I could make that she might like!
(It looks like the *K* has gone missing! Oh NO)!

Anyway, it started with a piece of chipboard from the
back of my desk pad!

I covered the front and back with the Notebook paper pack. (X7102B)

I used a bunch of different Dimensional Elements, (also covered
in Notebook paper) to spell B I R T H D A Y. Sponged the edges.
I used the color ready alphabet, sponged and stamped for the word "book".

The inside pages are made with cardstock and a legal sized envelope.

I printed the months of the year and cut them to fit each page.

On the printed calendar side you write down birthdays
you need to remember and the on the back of the page with the
envelope attached you slide in postage stamps and mailing labels.

You can find everything you need to send a card to your family and friends.

Faster, Simpler, Easier.
Unless you lose the letter *K*.

Here I am with some really FUN consultants! We all enjoyed the Minneapolis Regional Celebration even though my flight was delayed in (and out) of the frozen tundra. I love getting to meet and visit with the amazing and talented women on my team!

Thanks for coming and sharing a FUN weekend with me. It did my body good.

Here are "the girls". That's my Mom, Grandma Eloise, Me, Tara and Jenna. We went out to lunch, just us girls, to celebrate Tara's 25th. We had a yummy lunch and a fun time chatting and catching up. They really do grown up way to fast!

Here she is! All growed up. My Tara, whom many of you have known for many years. She's all of 25 years young and I just wanted to share this cute photo of her and her "special friend" Aaron.

Display Board FUN!

We got together last Friday night and made these great Display Boards featuring the new papers of the Autumn/Winter 2009 Idea Book.

I host this fun night for my team members as well as any local consultant who'd like to attend.

Here's how the "Display Board" looks when you add in some 3 x 3 paper samples. I type the name of the paper pack and the colors that are featured on small strips of paper and label each card sample.

This is the "Jingle" paper. I love these pretty and festive colors.

This card used the "Sweet Home" papers. I love the sweet sentiment on this cozy card!

The paper reminds me of my favorite colors when I was a newlywed!

This card used the "Grace" paper pack. We used waxy flax in the button centers and popped the image up.
